introduction

According to MIG Productions, Neutron and Gamma blasts make the dirt a shade of red that is unavailable to modellers today, or at least unavailable until now, thanks to these two products.

the product

I like this line of pigments, especially the non-standard colours like blues and yellows and greens where you can really make an unearthly feel to your AT-AT, Space Marine, or what have you. These pigments could easily fit into their standard line but that doesn't mean they're not useful. As would be expected, you get a lot of pigment and it is consistent in size and texture.

Neutron Earth Field:
A fairly dark, rust like red. In fact, that is exactly what I will probably use it for, as while being fairly dark it doesn't have the typical brown tint to it and should work really nicely as a vibrant pigment for rusted mufflers and such. It will need a fixer as it wipes clean very easily, which does make fixing mistakes or adding smearing effects very easy.

Gamma Blast:
This is a lighter, almost crimson red. It's not exactly a pink colour but it does feel like a bit of a bleached out red. I might use this sparingly to add depth to a rusted out piece but this one is probably the more "sci-fi" of the two.

conclusion

The quality of these pigments is quite high and you get a lot of pigment for your money. The Gamma Blast pigment is the less broadly useful of the two, being minimally useful unless you are going for something other-worldly or will use sparingly with other red pigments. The Neutron Earth Field pigment would be useful to anyone needing a dark red pigment.
SUMMARY
Highs: Good value for the money New colors
Lows: Gamma Blast is pretty specific in where it could be used.
Verdict: These are high quality pigments that offer good value. If you can use these colors, these are a very good pigment choice
