This is a 54 mm figure, from Spanish figure company Andrea Miniatures. It is part of their Golden West Series, code S4F34 named “Sioux Warrior -1860.” It is a late 2004 release representing a Sioux Warrior attacking .

The Pack:

The figure is boxed in the usual Andrea pack size and style with beautiful box art on the front. On the back of the box are five more pictures of the finished figure to help the painter. It also includes an Andrea color chart to help with paint selection by listing the company's colors.

The Figure:

Inside the box are 17 (!!) well protected pieces of white metal that make up the figure. Parts include a small base, a single piece torso/ right arm, separate legs and the right hand with axe or right hand with spear. Other parts include the left hand, shield, two pieces of clothing, four pieces of hair decoration , a knife and the head. Final details include and a piece for the bow and arrows in a leather case

The casting is up to the usual high standards of Andrea with no flaws and almost zero need for cleaning. There appears to be two thin molding lines across the top surface of the arms but nothing serious.

The pose is a “wild” and off balance . The warrior is attacking and Andrea gives the builder the choice of which weapon the figure is carrying. Will it be an axe or spear? Regardless of the choice, the builder is left with a hand and the other weapon in spares box.

Overall the sculpting is amazing, with very nice details that will help the painted during that phase of construction. The face is nicely represented , and all tension of the moment is beautifully captured and
I liked how the muscles are sculpted. I think with some careful painting -- especially to the flesh parts -- the piece will be superb.

Conclusion:

This is very good choice for a Native American subject, of which there are many on the market.
Andrea demonstrates with every late release that there is always space for improvement, and that’s a benefit for the buyer .
Highly Recommended

I started modelling 27 years ago with some 1/72 planes and military vehicles. Soon the diorama bug got into me and with Sheperd Paynes books I dug in. I loved to build dioramas and military vehicles till the Vietnam Era. I don't like modern stuff so much. 4 years ago I had a crush on figure painti...
