First off I should say that I love plaster diorama parts. Maybe my age is showing, but for all their issues (breakage, dust, etc) there is something I inherently love about working with them. Maybe it's that they have the weight and feel of the real thing (if it were miniaturized), or that you can easily chisel details or damage into them. Whatever the reason I just like them. So you have been forewarned.

This nice little 3 piece wall section is made by Great North Roads. It was provided to me by TankRat's AFV Depot for the purpose of this review and came in a simple clear plastic bag. It's been about two months since I have had it and I was somewhat surprised to see condensation building up in the bag when I went to open it up today. There was no apparent harm done from the added moisture though.

The pieces have been designed to allow interlocking of the main brick post with the other two wall units. So you could create several layouts using this kit. A corner arrangement, a strait wall, or perhaps a gate option with a space between posts and one of the wall sides hanging off to one side.

Overall I would rate this item very highly. It has excellent brick details and the few questionable details I see could be corrected or chalked up to intentional damage/nicks in the original mold/sculpt. The most impressive aspect for me is the cost of this kit. I couldn't currently find it on TankRat's site, but it's on the Great North Roads website for only 3 pounds 50. which seems like a bargain to me. Even at $5.00 USD this would still save any modeler many hours of custom work to achieve the same results.

Highly recommended!
SUMMARY
Highs: Low cost and excellent details. Nice configuration options.
Lows: Packaging very basic with no foam, etc. Parts may wear or get damaged if not careful.
Verdict: Overall a great little dress up item for any diorama.

About Jim Starkweather (staff_Jim)
FROM: CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES

I started building models in 1971 when I was 6. My first model was a 1/32 P-40 Warhawk. Revell I believe. From there I moved onto the standard cars, Apollo spacecraft, and other kid orientated kits. I don't know what got me started on Armor. I must have seen a Monogram tank kit one day and said "Mom...
