Introduction

Since releasing the first affordable Churchill kit in over 30 years, AFV Club continues to produce a line of appropriate accessory and detail items.
These version "A" rivet heads (actually, bolt heads) were seen not only on the Churchill tanks, but are also intended for the Tamiya Centaur and Cromwell kits. These conical -headed bolts are peculiar to British tanks of the period, and are seen festooning Mk. 3 Churchills.

Contents

These turned-brass bolt heads are a nice detail accessory for the newly-released AFV Club Churchill. 16 are included in a package. Although the kit-supplied plastic ones are fine (See: photo, top left), these will turn an already great model into a show-winner. AFV Club attains the level of quality we see in all of its brass and aluminum products by sub-contracting the machining process to a manufacturer of parts for Swiss timepieces.

Construction

When upgrading the AFV Club Churchill, no modification or drilling is required, simply popping them into the holes where the original plastic bolt heads locate. A drop of CA cement is all that is needed. For upgrading the Tamiya kits, you'll have to first remove the kit moulded-on heads, then drill holes.

Conclusion

Also available are the simplified "Version B" conical bolt heads (item AG35021), seen mostly on the Churchill AVRE tanks.
An excellent finishing touch for Churchill, Cromwell, and Centaur tanks. Almost a shame to paint!
SUMMARY
Highs: A welcome detail upgrade for Churchill, Cromwell, and Centaur tanks. Excellent finishing touch. Almost a shame to paint! The simpler conical heads (item AG35021) are also available for the new AVRE kit!
Lows: The hardest bit is opening the package if you're simply detailing the AFV Club Churchill. You need 2 packages of these if you're adding them to a Tamiya Cromwell or Centaur kit.
Verdict: A great accessory for the British armor fan who has everything! Highly recommended!

From B.C., Canada. Living in Taiwan for past several years. I've been building kits for as long as memory serves -armor, aircraft, cars. Big fan of 1/16th scale armor kits. Currently serving as poster boy for working with CA adhesives in a well-ventilated area. My first kit was the positively awful ...
