Legend Productions has attracted considerable attention since starting to release 3D scanned resin figures in three popular scales of 1/35th, 1/24th and 1/16th. The third figure offering is now available from Legend Productions in the form of a US NAVY SEAL M79 Gunner, this is the third SEAL from Legend Productions and they really look the part in my opinion.
This is the 1/35th scale offering of the US NAVY SEAL #3 from Legend Productions and this will be an inbox review, I have sent the 1/24th scale offering to a member for a build review. The model is packaged in an end opening card carton that is shrink wrapped in a thick plastic, in this condition I do believe it will cope with reasonable postage handling, but I would prefer a cardboard box to further protect the contents.
Inside of the package is a fold out sheet of instructions that are fairly good as a guide to getting a finished model. The resin castings are packed inside a Ziploc plastic bag that has kept everything in good order and no obvious damage is visible. I also noted that several of the finer castings are duplicated which I appreciate greatly. A visual examination of the castings reveals an excellent level of caste detail present on all facets of the various parts.
The main body of the figure consists of the usual parts breakdown with the exception that the boots and hands are separate mouldings. I like that where the arms and feet attach to the relevant parts Legend Productions has provided shaped recesses to assure the parts are correctly aligned and so taking away the guess work sometimes needed. The soles of the boots have very good tread detail replicated, but this is partially destroyed by the pour plug connection points. The hands are moulded holding the relevant weapons and so the look of them is excellent. The face of the figure is bearded and has a serious look to it; this is a very suitable expression for the figure.
The equipment and clothing looks appropriate for the figure, but I am in no way knowledgeable on the subject and so unable to pick out possible faults. The weapons will need the muzzles drilled to improve the appearance of them; please take care when doing this as it is easy to damage these elements. A close look at the instruction sheet looks to aid the modeller in parts placement to a high degree and that is good to see as it is an aspect I have complained about in the past.
This is another nice addition to the range of 3D scanned resin figures and should please even the most demanding figure modeller with its attributes. The instructions look to clearly the modeller through construction regardless of modelling ability. If the modeller is up to the task this offers the possibility of a stunning figure regardless of the preferred scale.
