About Jim Starkweather (staff_Jim)
FROM: CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES

I started building models in 1971 when I was 6. My first model was a 1/32 P-40 Warhawk. Revell I believe. From there I moved onto the standard cars, Apollo spacecraft, and other kid orientated kits. I don't know what got me started on Armor. I must have seen a Monogram tank kit one day and said "Mom...

At $70 plus shouldn't the detail set be included ? This kit looks really nice but a bit too rich for my blood. Thank you Jim for the review !

I just did a price check and some online retailers have this on pre-order status for only $31.99 (+ shipping) so not anywhere near what the list price seemed to suggest.

this suppose to be anew kit? New tooling?

Yes it is an all new tooling kit.

Nice to give Dragon some competition and the artwork on the box is superb as well ... great thanks Jim once again for the review!

Thanks for the review Jim. I ordered this kit and the Tamiya Phaeton. Did you get a chance to see the new Japanese Officers set that Tamiya is about to release? I think Tamiya is really trying to be competative with these NEW releases. My Jagdpanzer cost $27.00 + shipping from Japan. That is nowhere near the crazy $70.00 MSRP. Jeff

Considering how strong the USD has been vs. the Yen lately, your far better off ordering from Japan vs getting it locally. The USD is worth 113 Yen the last time I looked, the highest its been in seven years. It was at 125 Yen back about 12 years ago.

it looks good, but those detail parts should come with the kit...I don't know why AFV Club does this...they started this "buy parts separately " scam... now Tamiya is following along. Academy puts everything in one box as does Dragon. But, knowing me..I will buy all the new Tamiya kits any way..so....arrggg

Agreed. If the parts assembly are shown in the drawings you get with the kit it, at least to me, feels like they've subtracted from the kit rather than adding something with the detail parts.
